Tomáš Lébr / Jerry EFEB

Tomáš was talented from birth. He was born on 26 March 1981 in Kladno in the sign of Aries, which characterises quite accurately his original, spontaneous and energetic style not only in photography. The gift of the technical insight has been passed down in his family over generations. Tomáš, absorbed by the magic of his grandfather´s darkroom, set off for his journey with zeal and spontaneity. He has been successful in combining the chemistry of photograph-making together with the art of storytelling in front of the camera. Besides that, he is apparently a quick learner. He is a discoverer. He realised that the lens is like a third eye to him - not only did it show him new horizons and new faces, but also stories behind them.

His first commercial photographs were taken for the cycling magazine VELO. In his own words, this was the place where he gained experience by hours and hours of film editing. While studying at technical college, he assisted leading Czech photographers. He graduated from The Prague School of Photography, which gave him the opportunity to cooperate with commercial studios of fashion photography. Tomáš launched his career as a professional photographer. In cooperation with OIIO studio, his professional name EFEB came to being. Tomáš changed over to digital photography. With his typical technical talent, he mastered the technology of post-production. However, he has never rejected or abandoned classical photography.

He is fascinated by photography as a concept. He focuses on documentary photographs, portraits, fashion, sports and architecture. He has been doing sports since his early childhood and as a Kladno-born photographer, he feels at home in an industrial and post-industrial environment. He searches for stories – he finds new personalities and settings in the world of documentary photographs, portraits and fashion. He experiments. In doing this, his closest and most faithful friend is his dog Nesta. Together with him, he can relax and escape from civilisation, which enables him to experiment peacefully. He can discover fresh perspectives, new insights, open space and movement within it.

Narodil se jako talent, Kladeňák, a to dne 26. 3. 1981 ve znamení berana, což poměrně blízce specifikuje jeho osobitý, spontánní a energický projev nejen ve fotografii. Dar technického vhledu se v jeho rodině dědí po generace. Tomáš, pohlcen kouzlem dědečkovi fotokomory spontánně a se zaujetím nastoupil svou cestu. Úspěšně se mu daří roubovat alchymii vzniku fotografie spolu s uměním vyprávět příběh před objektivem. Snadno se učí a je to na jeho cestě znát. Objevuje. Zjišťuje, že objektiv je jeho třetím okem, které mu nejen ukazuje nové prostředí a tváře, ale i příběhy za nimi.

Jeho první komerční fotografie vznikají pro cyklistický časopis VELO, kde se, jak cituje, prakticky proškolil na kilometrech redakčního filmu. Během studií na Střední průmyslové škole asistuje předním českým fotografům. Absolvuje Pražskou Fotografickou Školu, kde získává kontakty komerčních ateliérů módní fotografie. Tomáš startuje dráhu profesionálního fotografa. Ve spolupráci se studiem OIIO vzniká značka EFEB. Realizace prvních zakázek pro Lifestyle a Fashion magazíny. Přechází k digitální fotografii. S technickým talentem sobě vlastním ovládá digitální postprodukční technologie. Klasickou fotografii nikdy nezavrhl a neopustil. 

Fotografie ho fascinuje jako médium samo. Zabývá se dokumentem, portrétem, módou, sportem, architekturou. Sport od útlého mládí aktivně provozuje, a jako rodilý Kladeňák je bytostně srostlý s architekturou industriálního a postindustriálního prostředí. Hledá příběhy - objevuje nové osobnosti a prostředí. To mu přináší dokument, portrét a móda. Experimentuje. V tom je mu dnes nejbližším a nejvěrnějším přítelem jeho pes Nesta. Společná relaxace a útěk z civilizace přináší tiché experimentování - možnost objevování nových úhlů pohledů. Jiné vnitřní i vnější světlo, otevřený prostor a pohyb v něm.
